Derry Genealogy

Operated by the Heritage & Museum Service of Derry City Council and located in the Foyle Valley Railway Museum, the Derry Genealogy Centre offers expert advice and help to those wishing to research their family history.

With a database of over one million civil and church registries from both city and county of Derry, dating back over four-hundred years. Whether it be a query about place names, the origin of your surname or which records to search, the friendly and professional staff, led by Brian Mitchell, are there to help.

Staff genealogist Mitchell is an accredited member of the Association of Professional Genealogist in Ireland and author of a number of works in the same vein, and has worked tirelessly since the Centre first opened as a project of the Inner City Trust in 1982.
