The City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival has become one of the highlights of the calender year for the city and this year will be no different. The Derry Jazz Festival 2014 will be helf from the 1st-5th of May and will once again see over 35,000 music lovers take to the streets for this wonderful event. The Derry Jazz Festival sees around 200 musicians perform in around 70 different venues so it is almost guaranteed that there will be something for everyone. The Derry Jazz Festival has a little something for everyone from party goers, families and Jazz enthusiasts, the one problem you might find is deciding where to go and who to see first.

This year the Derry Jazz Festival will welcome back musicians from previous years such as fan favorites the Jive Aces, Carmen Ghia and the Hotrods, and Greggi G. This year the festival will also be lining up some new artists such as the renowned English folk singer Kate Rusby as well as The Jersey Boys.

The Pan Celtic Festival Derry 2014 is the 43rd annual Pan Celtic Festival which celebrates the arts, culture and traditions of the Celtic Natons of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Isle of Man and Cornwall. The Pan Celtic Festival Derry 2014 will be held from 22nd-27th April and will see over 5,000 people take part in a range of  events and activities from the festival parade, harp, fiddle, piping, choral and traditional singing. Each night of the Pan Celtic Festival will have a theme dedicated to each nation and there will also be a camogie blitz for each nation to compete in.

This year The Pan Celtic Festival Derry, hopes to attract over 10,000 people and be the biggest festival to date. St Patricks Day Derry Spring Carnival

The St Patrick’s Day Spring Carnival in Derry will be a day filled with fun and entertainment for all the family to enjoy. Since its first year the St Patrick’s Day festival has grown and we hope that this years event can be the biggest to date. Local people and visitors alike will take to the streets from the 14th – 17th of March for this years celebrations which will host a variety of events celebrating Irish language, history, culture and tradition. This St Patricks Day Derry will have activities which are fun for all the family, with street performers, live music, and a magical children’s treasure trail. To top of the event there will be a carnival parade which is sure to be fantastic with aspects of ‘Music, Myth and Magic’.

This year the festival will also incorporate the LegenDerry Food Festival which celebrates the range of local food as well as the producers and chefs in the City. The LegenDerry Food Festival has various themes such as ‘plot to plate’ and ‘grown here not flown here’ and also has a number of fun events to take part in or spectate from chef demonstrations to live cook offs.

Other Voices Derry

Other Voices Derry 2014

RTÉ’s Other Voices returns to Derry in February 2014 for 3 nights of live music and interviews with the musicians themselves.  In December 2013 Other Voices was held in Dingle and attracted artists such as David Gray, Lisa O’Neil and John Grant, and Derry has a line up just as attractive lined up for February.

Other Voices will be held in the stunning Glassworks building on Great James Street on February the 7th, 8th and 9th and will also be streamed online and to local venues across the city.

Unfornately, Other Voices do not sell tickets directly, they give tickets out through competitions so that everyone has a chance of attending the show for free.
