Ballyarnett Country Park

Ballyarnett Country Park

Mere minutes from two of the main points of entry into the city, Ballyarnett Country Park sits in acres of pristine greenland and is a haven for local wildlife in the area; otters, wild ducks, geese and badgers can all be found within the park, which consists largely of open green areas and covered nature trails. Also within the park is the Amelia Earhart Centre, a small museum built to commemmorate the American navigator whose ill-fated solo flight across the Atlantic was cut short when she crashed in the area in 1932. Recently redeveloped to the tune of £300,000, the park is to provide a focal point for all local events and will continue to host the Earhart Festival thanks to the UK City of Culture.
